Why Your Business Should Become Part of the Save The Bay Community

Quality of life is undoubtedly a key recruitment and retention tool for your business, and nothing is more essential to a high quality of life in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts than Narragansett Bay.  The beauty and bounty of the Bay are essential to the social and economic vitality of our area.

By joining Save The Bay, your business becomes part of a movement, a tradition, a community of people and organizations dedicated to protecting Rhode Island’s most valuable natural resource. With your support, we are able to:

  • Advocate for the public’s right to use and enjoy the Bay. We’re vocal and engaged partners in ensuring public access to the water for swimming, fishing, and other recreational sports and industry.
  • Champion environmentally sound, sustainable economic development, including green construction, wind turbines and mixed use of shoreline parcels.
  • Fight and prevent persistent Bay pollution. We collected more than 21,000 pounds of trash in 2013 alone.
  • Educate and inspire the next generation of Bay stewards, providing hands-on marine science and environmental education to nearly 20,000 students from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.
  • Actively engage in restoration projects across the Bay and its watershed. Long-term ecosystem restoration efforts include salt marsh elevation, dam removals, fish ladders, stormwater infrastructure projects, eelgrass plantings and scallop transplants.

*Please note:  Be sure to access the Johnson & Wales University Harborside Campus through the main entrance on Harborside Blvd. Your GPS may suggest taking Ernest Street to JWU’s Shipyard Street entrance, but that route requires a key card for entry.

From Route I-95 North or South, take Exit 18 (Thurbers Avenue). Head downhill on Thurbers Avenue to US Route 1A (Allens Avenue). Turn right onto Allens Ave. Continue southbound on Allens Ave. into Cranston, where Allens Ave. becomes Narragansett Blvd. Turn left onto Harborside Blvd. at the traffic light by the Shell gas station. Follow Harborside Blvd. through the Johnson & Wales Harborside Campus. At the end of Harborside Blvd., turn right onto Save The Bay Drive. Save The Bay Drive becomes a circular, one-way roadway as you approach the Bay Center. Parking is available in four guest lots after you pass the main building. Enter the building through the main entrance.
