The Swim

The Save The Bay Swim Fundraiser

The Swim is Save The Bay’s largest, and most iconic, annual fundraiser. For 44 years, athletes and advocates have been inspired to tackle a two-mile, open-water swim across Narragansett Bay, raising both funds and awareness for Save The Bay’s mission to protect and improve Narragansett Bay.

As a fundraiser, the Swim directly supports Save The Bay’s educational programs, our advocacy efforts, and our habitat restoration efforts. As a community event, the Swim engages 700 swimmers, kayakers and volunteers in a celebration of the recreational benefits of Narragansett Bay.

In honor of Save The Bay’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, we are rolling out some exciting new changes for the 2020 Swim, including new fundraising tools, new fundraising incentives and perks, and some welcome expansions!

Stay tuned! Details and registration are coming early April 2020!

I started swimming for Save the Bay and continue to do so because of the opportunity and challenge to swim across the Bay. To be immersed in the middle of the bay is such a great feeling. I know this wonderful experience wouldn’t be so wonderful if it were not for the tremendous work Save the Bay has done over the years to make and keep it clean.

*Please note:  Be sure to access the Johnson & Wales University Harborside Campus through the main entrance on Harborside Blvd. Your GPS may suggest taking Ernest Street to JWU’s Shipyard Street entrance, but that route requires a key card for entry.

From Route I-95 North or South, take Exit 18 (Thurbers Avenue). Head downhill on Thurbers Avenue to US Route 1A (Allens Avenue). Turn right onto Allens Ave. Continue southbound on Allens Ave. into Cranston, where Allens Ave. becomes Narragansett Blvd. Turn left onto Harborside Blvd. at the traffic light by the Shell gas station. Follow Harborside Blvd. through the Johnson & Wales Harborside Campus. At the end of Harborside Blvd., turn right onto Save The Bay Drive. Save The Bay Drive becomes a circular, one-way roadway as you approach the Bay Center. Parking is available in four guest lots after you pass the main building. Enter the building through the main entrance.
