Save The Bay To Host “Taste of The Bay,” Showcasing Local Music, Food and Beverage Vendors

Save the Bay will hold a new community event, Taste of The Bay, on Thursday, May 23 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Bay Center, 100 Save The Bay Drive, Providence, RI 02905. In conjunction with its Annual Meeting, Taste of The Bay celebrates local restaurants, seafood, breweries, art and music at Save The Bay’s waterfront campus in Providence.

“Since Save The Bay is out there every day restoring and improving the ecological health of Bay, we thought what better way to celebrate the Narragansett Bay than to engage and showcase partners who are an integral part of this community?” said Leanne Danielsen, event manager for Save The Bay. “All participating vendors are showing their support of Save The Bay. We hosted a much smaller version Taste of The Bay last fall and it was so well-received that we decided to expand it to include more of our Bay friends and community.”

Vendors include Whole Foods, Rhode Island Shellfisherman’s Association, Billy's, North, Fireworks Catering, The Barking Crab, The Cupcakerie, Sin Desserts, Green River Jewelry, Bottles, Cottrell Brewery, Grey Sail Brewery, Starbucks, Sons of Liberty Spirits Co., Narragansett Beer, Newport Storm, Trinity Brewhouse, Ravenous Brewing Company, Foolproof Brewing, Robin Squibbs Tea, Acacia Café food truck, and the Lois Vaughn Jazz Band. The event will also feature an art show and sale with local artists.

Partners will present tastes of their cuisines and cocktails to show off what they do best. The featured sponsor is Newport Biodiesel, a sustainable biodiesel provider produced in New England from second use or waste vegetable oil to produce a clean burning, renewable, locally sourced fuel. The Taste of The Bay community sponsor is Residential Properties, “Rhode Island’s Real Estate Company,” with offices in Barrington, Cumberland, Narragansett, East Greenwich and Providence.

The Annual Meeting segment begins at 5:30 p.m. with a short program acknowledging and thanking volunteers, donors, and partners. The Taste starts at 6:00 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m. Participants can attend the Annual Meeting, Taste of The Bay, or both.

“Save the Bay staff and volunteers devote countless hours to addressing environmental challenges that have profound impact on the future health and well-being of Narragansett Bay and on our local economy,” says Jonathan Stone, Save The Bay’s executive director. “This is just another opportunity to educate our community and celebrate our partners in a fun and engaging way.”

All proceeds of the event benefit Save The Bay programs. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at www.savebay.org/taste_of_the_bay. Call for more information at 401-272-3540. Tickets are limited.
