Please join us for the 2010 eelgrass restoration season and help Save The Bay restore this critical marine habitat. Please note that we will be entering a new phase of eelgrass restoration, and June will complete our large-scale transplant efforts. Learn more.

For HARVEST DAYS, we need sorters, kayakers and in-the-water relay people. Harvests take place on the shore and run from 9:00 a.m. until about 3:00, but feel free to drop in for just a few hours. TRANSPLANT DAYS take place onboard M/V Alletta Morris and are open to SCUBA-certified divers only. A full-day commitment is necessary. We usually meet at the Save The Bay Center at 9:30 a.m., but times may vary.

TO SIGN UP, contact Stephany Hessler at or 401-272-3540, x130.

  • DIVERS: Divers must be SCUBA certified, 18 years of age or older, own their own gear and have been actively diving within the past year. Any new volunteer diver must contact Maria Martinez at 401-272-3540, x142 for a small informational interview prior to their volunteer date.
  • KAYAKERS: Must be able to kayak in light chop and lift 30 pounds out of the water into the kayak and paddle to shore.
  • NOTE: Individuals 16 years of age and younger who do not drive themselves to the project must come accompanied with a parent or guardian who will be there the entire time.
  • Lunch, snacks and drinks will be provided.
