Save The Bay Event Assistants

We are currently seeking volunteers to help out at the Bay Partners Graduation, the CVS Charity Classic and the Annual Bay Swim.

Bay Partners Graduation

10-15 volunteers are needed to assist our Explore The Bay staff, school students and teachers at the first Bay Partners Graduation to be held on April 10. Volunteers will help with crowd control, greeting schools, distributing lunches, set up/clean up, craft assistance and more.

If you are artistic and have face painting skills, we’d love to have you! If you’ve ever volunteered at our Exploration Center in Newport and have worked with the marine animals there, we’d love to have you too!  This is a great opportunity for current/former teachers/childcare providers  

When: April 10 from 8:30 am to approximately 2 pm
Where: Save The Bay Center in Providence  Directions
What to Wear: Volunteers should wear comfortable shoes, khaki/docker type pants. A volunteer shirt will be given to you on site.
Experience/Requirements: Experience working with children is a plus. You must be 21 year of age or older to volunteer for this position. You will be on your feet for a good portion of the event and will be both inside and outside working. Must have a pleasant demeanor, a go-to attitude, a willingness to help with whatever is asked of you, your own transportation and the ability to stay for the whole event.

Green Landscaping Workshop

Volunteers are needed to assist at our 3rd Annual Green Landscaping Workshop on April 17 from 8:15 am to 12:30 pm. Volunteers are needed to help with set up and cleanup up of the event, greeting guests, assisting vendors, and assisting as needed throughout the day. Only 5 volunteers are needed so spaces will fill quickly. When you are not working, you can feel free to attend any of the lectures or visit any of the vendors and booths for information on Green Landscaping.  

When: April 17 from 8:15 am to 12:30 pm
Where: Save The Bay Center in Providence  Directions
Requirements: Good with the public, takes direction well, happy to get in and help where needed, can stand on feet for a period of time and do some moderate to heavy lifting of tables, chairs, etc. You must be able to work the whole shift and stay for the cleanup of the event. You must be over 16 to volunteer for this event.

Be a Swim Volunteer!

Are you an early riser? Do you like a busy environment? WE NEED YOUR HELP!

What: Help Save The Bay at the 34th Annual Citizens Bank / Save The Bay SwimVolunteers are still needed in Newport for a variety of roles. Volunteer kayakers are also needed to help on the water with swimmer safety.

  • Newport Volunteers: Swimmer numbering, kayak safety inspection, parking, kayak unloading, etc.
  • Volunteer Kayakers: must have a sea-worthy 9.5' (minimum) sea kayak or sit-on-top kayak with a paddle.

NOTE: While we try to accommodate based on preference, you may be asked to volunteer in another capacity where we can use the help.

When: Saturday, July 17. Volunteers in Newport will need to arrive at 4:00 am and Jamestown volunteers will need to arrive at 4:30 am. Party Tent volunteers in Jamestown arrive for 5:30 am. Volunteers must stay to help cleanup in each site they are volunteering for. Volunteers should be expected to be done with their duties by 10:00 am.
  No volunteers under the age of 12 permitted at this event. All volunteers under the age of 16 must participate with an adult/parent.
