Summer Camp Counselor - SEASONAL
Reports to: BayCamp Director Locations: Providence, Newport and various camp locations throughout Rhode Island Dates: June - August 2010 POSITION DESCRIPTION: As a seasonal member of the Save The Bay education team you will be responsible for helping to lead camp programs along Narragansett Bay shorelines as well as aboard our educational vessels M/V Alletta Morris and M/V Swift. You will help in the development of marine-oriented educational activities, programs, games and crafts for students in grades 3-8. This is a great opportunity for college students and recent college graduates to get experience working in both the fields of marine science and environmental education. QUALIFICATIONS: - Must be at least 18 years of age
- Background in marine and/or environmental science or environmental education
- Background working with children leading and planning educational programs
- Experience working outdoors in the field and/or aboard education or research vessels
- Strong interest in environmental education
- Ability to work individually as well as in a team
- Must enjoy working with children
- Must enjoy working outdoors despite extremely sunny, hot or rainy conditions
- Must be physically capable of walking several miles, lifting medium weight objects and swimming
- Available to work a varied schedule including some weekends
- Must be flexible and outgoing with a good sense of humor
- BCI check required
- Must have own transportation and be willing to drive to several locations around the state
- First Aid/CPR certified
- Lifeguard certification preferred
