Project Narragansett is a FREE one-of-a-kind professional development program designed to bring the wonders of Narragansett Bay to middle and high school teachers and, ultimately, their students.

Teachers spend four days working with marine scientists in the field and aboard Save The Bay’s educational vessel, Alletta Morris. They conduct hands-on scientific investigations and collect data that then becomes part of their own 2010-2011 classroom curriculum. This year's Teacher Academy runs June 28 - July 1, 2010 (additional mandatory dates also apply).

To apply, download and complete the Project Narragansett Application. Applications due May 3, 2010. Only 20 spots are available. Teachers will receive notification of acceptance by May 24.

Contact Grainne at glanigan@savebay.org or 401-272-3540, x138 with any questions.

Project Narragansett connects grade span expectations, NECAP science testing and the Excellence in Environmental Education Guidelines for Learning (preK-12) with local science on the Bay. Participating teachers receive RIDE-approved credit hours and two fully funded schoolyear programs for their students (with partial bus funding).
